Using the words of one of my favorite anime characters, Toua Tokuchi, “a low possibility does not mean zero.” This is the mindset I take with me in the world. I have always believed that one’s born conditions do not determine their future prospects. And as a Black, refugee-immigrant woman from East Africa, I try to use my own life experiences to push forward that message.
